Damon's 1994 Camaro Z28

I've always wanted a car with a little more speed than average, but I never dreamed I'd be owning a car this fast! My wife and I were looking at cars one day, because both of our cars had over 150,000 miles. The salesman came out and was talking to us when I saw this car at the end of the lot. We went to look at it, but had decided Z28's were out of my price range. Of course, the salesman immediately went to get the keys. I was instantly thrilled with the overabundance of acceleration. We were able to work out satisfactory payments, and I drove the car to work that evening!

• The car is a 1994 Camaro Z28. Included options are PEG2 (150mph speedometer, GS-C Z-rated tires), T-tops, 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission, limited slip 3.23 rear axle, and a Delco/Bose CD player. The engine is the 5.7L LT1, producing 275hp and 325 ft-lbs of torque, and it had 16,600 miles on the clock. Of course, once you've been bitten by the horsepower bug, 275 hp is not enough, so I've dipped into my wallet for a few modifications. • As of October 2003, the car has over 154,000 miles, and is still running strong! I've used Mobil 1 synthetic oil for almost the entire time I've had the car, and when we had the manifold off around 100k miles, everything looked very clean inside. I've enjoyed the car immensely - even though we sometimes wonder if it was such a smart purchase, I've gotten more enjoyment from this purchase than practically any other purchase I've made. I had the car dyno tested at 120,000 miles, and it's still cranking out 240 horsepower at the rear wheels. Assuming a 20% drivetrain loss, that's over 280 horsepower at the crank - a very respectable number considering the limited modifications and the mileage. I do not plan on getting rid of this car. When the engine gives up the ghost, I'll simply have it rebuilt (with a little more power) and put the car back on the road!
